As readers have pointed out, the structured lessons presented in the book, take a long time to master. This makes the process of reading through and learning the book suitable for anyone from entry level to meditation masters. Some of the techniques described, and much of the advice given is exclusive to this book, and are available nowhere else.
Not only will you gain an insight into the unusual meditation practices the author engages in, but you will have the opportunity to fully master each and every technique discussed, with the aim of developing an ultimate understanding of meditation itself.
The idea of a beginner has been used too broadly by the author. It is his belief that regardless of how many years one practises, one could always consider oneself a beginner. It helps to keep an open mind, such as only beginners have, when they still wonder at every new experience. Although mastery is little more than a solid understanding of the basics, as soon as one considers themselves to have mastered something, they tend to neglect to practice the fundamentals, therefore stressing the merit of curiosity mostly beginners possess, seemed to be important.
Not everyone shares these views however, and the original title has kept a lot of people from accessing these methods. Some of the techniques described can be challenging even for someone with decades of meditation experience, so if you do not think you are a beginner, you might still be at the rigth place.
The book has been completely redesigned and adopted a new, much smaller format. The large size of the original could make it uncomfortable to hold it open for longer periods, and the new size, 6" x 9", is a more standad book format readers are accustomed to holding.
The interior has been refitted too. Besides the new illustrations and better page layout, the beautiful Crimson font has been applied, which aids the eyes along the lines, making for a more pleasant reading experience.
The book was created in its entirety with Free and Open Source Software(LibreOffice, Gimp, and Scrivener).
The book is more than just a second edition of the original. So much has been changed and so many new ideas have been introduced, that a new title seemed necessary.
For an even more practical approach towards learning each technique, the entire book has been restructured for logical and chronological accuracy.
Redrawn old illustrations and detailed new images help to understand the concepts discussed, and to follow the instructions provided.
